Delta commissioned an installation to be displayed in terminal 3 of JFK in New York. The piece, which would be named the Delta Diamond, was to highlight the new terminal coming to JFK as well as show the new first class seating which would be available on transatlantic flights. On top of these requirements the cube needed to be transportable to different airports in the future.
The Diamond was designed to have two displays back to back. One side contains a large video screen and the other a mock interior of an airplane.
The seat actuates between an upright and reclined state every five minutes. The lights also change to simulate a realistic flying experience. In addition, the amenities available in first class are displayed.
